The purpose of this evening is to give teachers an opportunity to familiarize you with the many procedures and routines of the classroom.  Please do not expect to have an individual conference with your child’s teacher on this evening.  General questions about classroom management, parent/teacher responsibilities, pupil responsibilities and a brief curriculum overview are some of the topics that the teachers might address.  If you feel it is important to meet with your child’s teacher before the Parent Teacher Conferences scheduled for November, please call to make an appointment. 

Our school nurse, Mrs. Quinn will be available Monday evening, Sept. 22^nd from 7:30pm to 8:30pm.  Our special

area teachers will be available as follows:

 School Parking and Student Safety

The following procedures are put in place and will be enforced to ensure the safety of our children.    

Front Circle:

Before 9:00 a.m. this area is restricted to drop-off only.   Cars may not be left unattended during this time.  Parking is available on Saw Mill Road, Pea Pond Road and the rear parking lot in marked spots only.  Parking is permitted in the front circle between 9:00 a. m. and 2:00 p.m.   *Please note:  No parking is ever permitted in  the Fire Zone indicated by the yellow lines. 

Rear Parking Lot:

Parking is permitted both in the morning and afternoon in marked spaces only.  Cars are not permitted in the inner circle.  Please do not block the garages, driveways or parking lot at any time.

Kindly keep the safety of our children in mind by driving slowly and yielding to all pedestrians.

Saw Mill Road Elementary School

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to Saw Mill Road School!  We are anxiously awaiting the beginning of this school year and to greet all of our new and returning students.  I hope that all of you had a restful and relaxing summer and are now, along with our teachers and support staff, enthusiastically awaiting the beginning of a new school year on Tuesday, September 8^th.  Please join me in welcoming our new faculty members: Ms. Partamian - Gr. 1, Mrs. Gallagher - Gr. 5, Ms. Blanc - Art, Mrs. Marino – Psychologist, Mrs. Fink and Ms. David – Speech, Mrs. Holland, Mrs. Alduino and Ms. Meaney  - Special Education.

Arrival for all students is between 8:20 am and 8:30 am.  Students will be entering the building through the following doors:  Gr. K, 1 and 2 - lobby doors, Gr. 3 and 4 – front Pea Pond Road doors and Gr. 5 and 6 – side Pea Pond Road doors. Teachers are assigned morning coverage at these times.  Attendance for the day is taken at 8:35 am.  Children arriving after this time are considered late.  Please be sure that children arrive on time as our school day begins promptly at 8:40 am.  **Please note:  If your child participates in band/orchestra/chorus and is required to be here prior to 8:20 am, siblings are not permitted in the building at that time, as there is no supervision before 8:20 am.

Dismissal time for kindergarten students is 2:55 pm.  They are dismissed at the clock doors at the rear of the school.  All other students are dismissed at 3:00 pm at the following locations:

                                           Grade 3 and 4       Front Pea Pond Road Door

                                           Grade 5 and 6       Middle Pea Pond Road Door
