Martin Avenue Artists Get a Taste of Sculpture

Third graders at Martin Avenue Elementary School have recently been dabbling in 3D art. Students made cupcake sculptures that combined pinch pots and coil pots.  

Led by art teacher Erica Farley, students made the base of the cupcakes with pinch pots, a technique they learned as second graders. This year, they added coil pots to mix, which were the top of their cupcakes and gave the effect of frosting. The young artists worked with air-dry clay so once the cupcakes hardened, they painted their designs.
